It was at 4:00am that the California University of Pennsylvania Women's Swimming Team began their adventure to Fairbanks, Alaska. It was an early morning for the girls since the first flight was at 6:20am from Pittsburgh to Minneapolis. The morning went smooth, there were no issues with the first flight. Two of the swimmers had never been on a plane, Caitlyn S and Sara Belle Johnson. The two handled it very well and the team gave them both congratulatory high-fives once successfully landed.
When we arrived in Minneapolis at 7:45am it was 8:45am in Pittsburgh. The team stopped for a breakfast in the airport since there was about a two hour lay-over until their next flight at 11:45 to Anchorage, Alaska. During the lay over the team wondered around the airport stopping in stores to browse and shop, slept in the terminals, and some got massages. The trip is going smooth and is definitely a fun time. The Cal U Swimmers are a bundle of energy!
The second flight was right on time! It was a long flight that was a total of five hours and ten minutes. Once the plane refueled we were up in the air on our way to ALASKA! We flew over the Rocky Mountains and it was a stunning site to see! Once we entered Alaska it was all mountains and snow, a gorgeous view! It was without a doubt a long flight and the team was getting tired. Even though they were getting tired they still were all anxious to get to Alaska. Once we landed the girls began snapping pictures in excitement. We got our passes for our final flight to Fairbanks, Alaska! Our plane will be boarding any minute now!
